ENERGY STAR® Rule Your Attic! Campaign
CHALLENGE
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR Home Improvement team sought to tell homeowners in the U.S. about the financial, as well as home comfort and environmental, benefits of sealing and insulating their attics and encourage them to improve the insulation levels in their attic.
STRATEGY
The Cadmus team developed a yearly campaign that leveraged the power of social media and the ENERGY STAR partners’ communications channels to reach U.S. homeowners. The campaign encouraged them to take the first step toward increasing the energy efficiency of their homes by measuring the insulation level in their attics and then take the next step to learn how to seal and insulate their attics in the optimal way. For this campaign, we developed a wide range of materials and content, including compelling videos, social media graphics, campaign identifiers, consumer landing pages, and more. We also created a robust toolkit of materials to help EPA ENERGY STAR partners and industry stakeholders deliver engaging and useful messaging to their consumers.
RESULTS
Our outreach and engagement efforts took advantage of the growing consumer interest in DIY content. The Rule Your Attic! 2015 and 2016 campaign years yielded 1.5 million impressions on Facebook, over 42,000 total engagements on Facebook, and over 574,000 online video impressions on Facebook and YouTube.
