New York State Data Center Market Characterization conveys the results of research conducted by the Cadmus team for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to assess the energy efficiency opportunity and potential of data centers in the commercial and industrial market in New York state.
The report is based on the results of two surveys:
The first survey was targeted at data center managers of commercial customers. From this survey, our researchers estimated that there are approximately 200,000 data center spaces in New York state, the majority of which are server closets.
The second was an in-depth survey of data center managers who are involved in New York state data center management, explored 32 different energy efficient technologies and best practices in IT, power infrastructure, air flow management, HVAC, and humidification. This survey sought to determine if data center managers had implemented or planned to implement EETBPs and to assess the manager’s level of interest in EETBPs.
This report yields valuable insights into energy use and energy efficiency opportunities in New York data centers, as well as information on energy-efficient technologies and best practices that can be applied across the data center market nationwide.
