New York and the New England states have made substantial progress toward their aggressive greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, but there’s still a long way to go: the region’s collective objectives will require emission reductions of about 80 percent below 2001 levels.
Achieving emissions reductions while also pursuing objectives such as economic development, energy security, and disaster resilience will require careful planning and informed decision-making. What is required is not simply electrification, it is strategic electrification.
This report, produced in collaboration with the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP), provides a resource to stakeholders across the region as they develop electrification strategies that allows them to base their planning on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
