Cadmus to Conduct Pilot Program Market Research for Pacific Gas and Electric
Waltham, Mass., October 31, 2013—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to perform secondary market intervention research for California energy utility Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). By conducting primary research into the viability and market potential of a pilot program to expand its current appliance recycling program, Cadmus’ support will help inform PG&E’s decision of whether to or retain as-is, alter, or expand the program.
The pilot program under consideration would enhance PG&E’s current services by offering removal and demanufacture of appliances acquired by Northern California retailers through the retailers’ own haul-away operations following delivery of new appliances to customers’ homes. Demanufacturing is the process of disassembling manufactured items into their basic components so that those components can be recycled, refurbished, or disposed of properly.
PG&E serves approximately 40 percent of Californians.
