“I am honored by this appointment,” said Mehan. “Financing the next generation of environmental solutions, by both the private and public sectors, may be the single most important undertaking for policymakers in the 21st century. I look forward to assisting the Board in meeting this challenge.”

EFAB members are prominent experts from the environmental field, banking and finance communities, business and industry, and all levels of government. They support EPA’s efforts to address the critical environmental issues facing the United States while finding ways to build state and local capacity to solve financing challenges, create incentives to increase investment in environmental facilities and services, and develop and encourage innovative financing approaches.

Mehan joined Cadmus in 2004 after a distinguished career in government at the federal and state levels. He supports Cadmus’ work on issues of sustainable infrastructure and financing, including watershed and asset management, full-cost pricing, green infrastructure, and Low Impact Development. Most recently, he has worked with the forestry and utility sectors to promote source water protection on forested landscapes as a cost-effective approach to providing safe and clean water.

With more than 25 years of experience in environmental policy, Mehan is an expert in the implementation of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Clean Water Act (CWA). He has written extensively on environmental regulation and cost-effective measures to safeguard water quality.
