Cadmus to Support U.S. Forest Service with Water Infrastructure Assessments
Waltham, Mass., March 9, 2015—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that it has been awarded a contract with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to support the STEWARD (Sustainable and Thriving Environments for West African Regional Development) Program, a forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods program. Cadmus will conduct environmental assessments of community water infrastructure planning and implementation in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, and Liberia.
Cadmus’ work will help STEWARD address the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) component of its mission, which aims to increase the knowledge around the issues of clean water access and the importance of designing climate change-resilient water supply systems. Under this project, Cadmus’ technical experts will help ensure access to adequate supplies of clean water in forest communities and schools by conducting reviews to verify that water infrastructure projects in the target areas comply with USFS/USAID standards for environmental sustainability. Water supply and sanitation present a particular challenge in these areas in the face of the ongoing Ebola epidemic.
