Cadmus’ Performance at Key National Drinking Water Conference Stresses Technical Proficiency, Leadership

Senior members of the Cadmus staff made a strong showing at the recent American Water Works Association’s (AWWA’s)annual Water Quality Technology Conference and Exposition (WQTC) in Seattle, where they:

  • Delivered five presentations they had co-written.
  • Moderated four technical sessions.
  • Chaired two national committee meetings.
  • Served as room monitors for a number of sessions.
  • Supported presentations by our U.S. Environmental Protection Agency clients.

Chi Ho Sham, Ph.D., a Cadmus vice president and head of the Drinking Water and Water Quality Group, led the company’s contingent. He chaired the Source Water Protection Committee meeting and moderated sessions on Groundwater: Recharge and Treatment and Source Water: Biological Invaders and Tools for Protection. Dr. Sham was also one of the authors of the presentation Microbial Contamination and Climate Change: Examples from Recent Floods.

Senior Associate Glen Boyd chaired the meeting of the Emerging Water Quality Issues Committee. In addition, he moderated two technical sessions: Impacts of Global Climate Change on Water Quality and Source Water Protection & Water Supply Sustainability in the Pacific Northwest. And he spoke on Sources of Contamination and Pathways of Intrusion and on Sampling for EDCs and PPCPs in Pacific Northwest Watersheds. (EDCs are endocrine disrupting chemicals, and PCCPs are pharmaceuticals and personal care products.)

Senior Associate Karen Sklenar delivered a presentation on Drinking Water Source Protection Through Effective Use of the TMDL [total maximum daily load] Process, which she co-wrote with Senior Associate Laura Blake.

Senior Associate Anne Sandvig spoke on the North American Corrosion Control Needs and Strategies: A Summary of the 2008 AWWA-DSWQC [Distribution System Water Quality Committee] Corrosion Survey.

Mr. Boyd and Associate Mike Grimm contributed to the planning of the conference during the past two years as active members of the WQTC’s local host committee.

Also attending The 2009 WQTC from Cadmus were Principals George Hallberg, Donna Jensen and Frank Letkiewicz.
