Reserve a spot at Cadmus’ Shawn Shaw ‘s workshop, Thursday, September 27th from 9 am-1 pm in room 207AB on Managing Your Solar Project Portfolio for High Quality and Low Risk.

Workshop Overview

Many of the largest solar companies provide solar loans and, in states like Massachusetts, there are incentive programs in place to encourage the growth of this powerful funding mechanism. At the same time, new financing products and ownership models continue to to propagate in the C&I and utility solar markets. All of these financing innovations have been helpful in growing the industry but they can also lead to unintended split incentives where system builders are not long-term owners. What impact does this have on PV system longevity, safety, performance, and quality?

In this workshop, attendees will gain the tools, resources, and insights to manage fleet quality-whether residential or larger C&I scale-using data-driven methods to manage risk and reduce costs. Attendees will have the opportunity to complete practical exercises and will be provided with powerful tools, such as checklists, templates, and spreadsheet calculators, to help manage installation quality across their fleets. Attendees will also gain a better understanding of quality management methods, tradeoffs of different inspection types (e.g., desktop vs. field inspections), and how to build-in quality installation practices when forming partnerships with contractors and other parties. Financiers and lenders will understand their role as informed consumers, while developers and installers will learn the tools and methods to ensure they differentiate themselves as market leaders for high-quality installations.
