Cadmus Continues Support for Protecting and Restoring U.S. Watersheds and Water Bodies
Waltham, Mass. February 15, 2013—The Cadmus Group, Inc., recently won its third consecutive five-year contract to work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds (OWOW). Cadmus provides support to OWOW in advancing the protection and restoration of the nation’s watersheds and water bodies.
Under this contract, Cadmus will work with OWOW to monitor water quality, manage and display water quality information, and assess water quality conditions and report on them to the public and to Congress. Cadmus will support developing and implementing Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), which limit pollutant discharges to receiving waters, ensuring the use of point and nonpoint source pollution controls, developing tools for ecosystem restoration, and identifying and protecting healthy watersheds.
“We are proud of the exceptional technical expertise that our staff provides to our clients at EPA and the states,” said Chi Ho Sham, Ph.D., senior vice president of the Environmental Science and Policy Division. “The outstanding contributions Cadmus staff members make on important technical issues to restore our nation’s water quality bolsters our company’s national reputation as a leader in watershed science and water quality technology.”
Since passage of the Clean Water Act of 1972, considerable progress has been made in reducing water pollution in the nation’s streams, lakes, estuaries, wetlands, and coastal waters. However, water quality assessments continue to show significant impairments in the designated uses of many of the nation’s waters. Greater efforts are also needed to protect our nation’s healthy watersheds.
Cadmus is one of five firms to have been awarded contracts with OWOW to compete for individual assignments.
