Cadmus to Perform Program Evaluation for Maine Utility’s Efficient Electric Heating Program
Waltham, Mass., September 19, 2013—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Iberdrola USA to evaluate the Central Maine Power Company (CMP)’s electric thermal storage (ETS) heating pilot program. This evaluation is being conducted in compliance with the act authorizing the program, and will also allow CMP to evaluate and improve its participating customers’ experiences.
ETS stores electric heat during off-peak hours, when rates are lower. The stored energy can then be used at any time. This is particularly useful in climates like Maine’s, where demand for heat can be sudden, high, and widespread.
The required evaluation factors Cadmus will measure include overall reduction in energy use and costs by participating customers, repayment experience of participating customers, effectiveness of the heating equipment installed under the program, the extent to which participating customers have taken advantage of any additional efficiency programs, and the effect of the program on the electric grid.
Cadmus is a leader in impact and process evaluation for clients in the energy utilities industry throughout North America. This project will also draw on Cadmus’ significant experience in program planning and design.
