Cadmus Welcomes Summer 2022 Taliesin Namkai-Meche Memorial Interns

In May 2017, Cadmus lost a dear friend and colleague when Taliesin Namkai-Meche, an analyst in our Portland office, tragically lost his life in an act of selfless heroism, defending two young women against a bigoted attack.

Taliesin first joined Cadmus as an intern and came back to work with us full time as part of our Statistics and Economics Team after graduation. With his insatiable curiosity and sharp mind, he connected his daily work to bigger policy questions concerning climate change and the environment.

The Taliesin Namkai-Meche Memorial Internship was established in 2018 to continue Taliesin’s legacy. Each summer, we are pleased to welcome interns who share Taliesin’s intellectual curiosity and passion for social justice. We are delighted to introduce our 2022 interns and honored to give them an opportunity to enrich themselves, the Cadmus community, and our broader communities.

Hima Aramona

Why did you choose to intern at Cadmus?

I chose to intern at Cadmus because I wanted to work at a company that supports the growth and development of its employees and is dedicated to solving important problems. I have been exploring new topics and developing new skills while getting to work on projects that have personal, social, and business impacts. 

What is your academic focus?

I am currently studying physics as an undergrad at Reed College. My past research has included astrophysics and the planetary sciences. Many of the skills I have gained through these studies are generalizable and transferable to other focus areas. 

Jordan Axelrod

What drives you?

I strive to make the world a better place by tackling challenging problems in business and research. Climate change is an existential threat to the world, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to utilize my skills to support efficiency gains at companies and utilities.  

What is your academic focus?

In my academic career, I apply cutting-edge data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning techniques to new problems in economics and environmental science.

Emma Thoron

Why did you choose to intern with Cadmus?

I chose to intern with Cadmus because it was the perfect way to explore my interest in both consulting and data analytics. As part of the Economics and Advanced Analytics team, I am using the analytics foundation I have built in college to work on client reports. Cadmus supports interns and entry-level employees to help them learn and thrive in new careers.

What is your academic focus?

I study economics, econometrics, and statistics at Reed College. This past semester, I completed an econometric research paper on maternal and infant health in Egypt. In the fall, I will finish a capstone thesis paper on the U.S. inflation rate and monetary policy. I will receive a Bachelor of Science in Economics in December of 2022.
