Southern California Edison Awards Cadmus MSA to Support Zero Net Energy Schools
WALTHAM, Mass., February 1, 2017—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that Southern California Edison has awarded it a master services agreement to provide support to four California schools as part of a pilot project to increase the energy efficiency of buildings, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero net energy (commonly known as ZNE). This support will include identifying efficiency options, analyzing savings and measuring cost, designing and performing measurement and verification, and preparing final reports.
Cadmus will collaborate on this effort with Agile Environmental Consulting, a daylighting specialist; EnergySoft, an EnergyPro specialist; and the University of Oregon’s Energy Services in Buildings Laboratory to provide special expertise in the latest ZNE technologies, research, and ZNE school projects. Work under this MSA will be distributed on a competitive basis.
ZNE retrofits of existing buildings are one essential path toward California’s established goal of making significant improvements in the energy efficiency of buildings and minimizing the associated greenhouse gas emissions. Proposition 39 provides substantial funding that local educational agencies and community colleges can access to invest in ZNE projects, and the California Public Utilities Commission has directed the investor-owned utilities—including Southern California Edison—to develop focused pilot programs that help these entities achieve ZNE through high levels of sustainability and energy efficiency.
Cadmus has the largest staff of any U.S. consulting firm dedicated to building energy program evaluation, measurement, and verification and has performed hundreds of EM&V studies for clients across the country. Our high performance building experts have successfully supported dozens of building projects using leading-edge technologies, and worked with our clients to find innovative solutions for ZNE projects.
