Expanding Hosting Capacity of Solar PV with Storage
Hosting capacity analysis (HCA) is a process to determine the extent to which distributed energy resources may interconnect into an existing distribution system without leading to technical concerns. This presentation expanded on the available literature by presenting a HCA methodology and illustrative results that quantify how storage can expand a feeder’s capacity to host behind the meter solar PV on both residential and commercial customer sites. These modeled results can be informative for determining how storage can best increase hosting capacity and for comparing storage to other resources that may offer similar services.
Presented by James Kennedy of Cadmus, at the NY Battery and Energy Storage’s Annual Meeting and Conference on March 13-15 , 2018.
