Opitz Joins Cadmus to Head Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Practice

Michael Opitz, P.E., LEED AP, has joined The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) as a principal in its green building practice, the company announced today. He will spearhead Cadmus’ burgeoning Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) practice.

Mr. Opitz comes to Cadmus after six years at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), including three years as vice president of LEED implementation. At USGBC he was instrumental in the development and public launch of the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED-EB O+M) program and of USGBC’s new Volume Program, which streamlines the certification process for large building portfolios. He also led the preparation of guidance for achieving LEED energy credits for buildings using district or campus-based energy systems.

“We’re very excited to have Mike join our team, and the timing could not be better. As the economy recovers and LEED 2009 and Volume Certification continue to take hold in the market, we anticipate increased demand for expert consulting services. And nobody is more knowledgeable and better positioned than Mike to help clients understand LEED requirements and develop and implement cost-effective, high-performing green building strategies,” said Ian Kline, Cadmus president and chief executive officer.

“LEED has been tremendously successful in stimulating demand for high-performance buildings. After several rewarding years of developing LEED standards and resources, I’m thrilled to be joining Cadmus and helping implement LEED in the field. Cadmus has the exceptional expertise in building systems, LEED requirements and submittal documentation necessary to help the owners of building portfolios produce fully validated, top-performing buildings and go green at scale,” said Mr. Opitz.
