Cadmus Recognized for Spearheading Utah Energy Benchmarking Effort

The Cadmus Group, Inc., a leading energy and environmental consultancy, is among 11 public and private organizations recognized by Utah Gov. Gary Herbert at a recent state capital event for their commitment to energy efficiency.

During the past year 10 of these organizations participated in the Utah Building Energy Efficiency Strategies (UBEES) program and, with the assistance of Cadmus, determined how much energy their buildings use as a first step toward energy efficiency. The Governor’s Energy Office selected Watertown, Mass.-based Cadmus to design and implement the UBEES program and to provide technical support and training to the public and private sector building owners and managers who participate.

“The UBEES program is a noteworthy voluntary partnership whose members come from nearly every building sector and county in Utah. We’re pleased to be part of the team that’s making Utah more energy efficient,” said Julio Rovi, a principal at Cadmus, who leads the firm’s green building practice.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program, commercial buildings account for 20 percent of the nation’s energy use, and nearly one-third of the energy used in commercial buildings is wasted through inefficiency.  Cadmus provides technical assistance and training to help organizations across the country measure building energy use and identify strategies to cut waste.  The company has assisted in the benchmarking of more than 30,000 buildings.
