Cadmus Senior Associate Laura Orfanedes has begun a three-year term on the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) board of directors, the company announced.
AESP is a member-based association dedicated to improving the delivery and implementation of energy efficiency, energy management and distributed renewable resources. As an AESP board member, Ms. Orfanedes looks forward to exploring these topics with the membership:
- Integrating DSM evaluation methodologies into marketing planning.
- Building alliances with trade and industry partners to promote efficiency.
- Applying consumer marketing best practices from non-energy industries to inform energy efficiency marketing.
- Positioning AESP as a thought leader in the energy industry.
“I’m excited about what the next three years hold.” she said. “This is a terrific opportunity for Cadmus to have a front row seat to the industry through this board. I really appreciate the opportunity, and I look forward to representing Cadmus in this role.”
Ms. Orfanedes has been attending AESP meetings for the past four or five years, and has been active in the organization for the past two. She is a former chair and a former vice‐chair of AESP’s Marketing Topic Committee. Under her chairmanship of the marketing committee, AESP established its Facebook page and explored the use of online social media to further AESP’s mission within the energy services industry. Ms. Orfanedes also has participated in several of AESP’s annual National Energy Services Conferences and Expos. And she helped develop and serves as a trainer for AESP’s training course on the Elements of Energy Efficiency Marketing. (Cadmus is the prime contractor to AESP to develop and conduct all the training for the Introduction to Energy Efficiency Marketing course that AESP offers.)
Laura Orfanedes has 20 years’ experience as a professional communicator and marketer helping public and private sector clients change consumer behavior around energy, water and communication. For the past 10 years she has dedicated her expertise to helping the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and utilities promote energy efficiency, reduce demand, and educate customers. Ms. Orfanedes was one of the lead architects of EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Change a Light, Change the World campaign.
She continues her longtime management of the marketing of energy‐efficient lighting and appliances for a group of New England utilities and efficiency organizations.
