Overview
What You’ll Be Doing
The Business Analyst acts as the liaison between compliance teams and technology units, gathering requirements, configuring, and testing AML/KYC/Sanctions systems to detect fraud. Business analyst functions include gathering requirements, performing ad hoc data queries and analysis, perming tests against requirements, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
This is an on-site (5 days a week) role (may become hybrid), and the ideal applicant is expected to work in New York location.

Responsibilities
- Act as the liaison between compliance teams and technology units, gathering requirements, configuring, and testing AML/KYC/Sanctions systems to detect fraud.
- Translate business requirements to technical requirements including what data fields are required to satisfy business requirements, any data transformations, data quality checks, and all related activities to convert BRD to TRD.
- Documents the technical requirements and supplies them to developers.
- Analyze complex transactional data, identify patterns, and document business processes/workflows.
- Conduct technical documentation including data lineage, data transformations, technical specs etc.
- Individuals should be proficient in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Communicate well with all stakeholders – business line, model developers, software developers, middle management – at regular intervals.
- Work under the direction of team leader.
Qualifications:
- MS in Information Systems/Data Science/ Statistics / Applied Economics or any STEM field.
- Between 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Business analyst translates business requirements to technical requirements including what data fields are required to satisfy business requirements, any data transformations, data quality checks, and all related activities to convert BRD to TRD.
- Documents the technical requirements and supplies them to developers.
- Ability to analyze complex transactional data, identify patterns, and document business processes/workflows.
- Individuals should have excellent technical writing skills. Someone who is comfortable documenting data lineage, data transformations, technical specs etc.
- Individuals should be proficient in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Individuals should be able to communicate well with all stakeholders – business line, model developers, software developers, middle management.
- Solid understanding of financial regulations such as BSA/AML, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder interaction.
- Proficient in MS Suite applications.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $70,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
