Amalia Hicks, Ph.D.

Principal

Amalia Hicks has more than 20 years of experience in research, study planning, project management, data visualization, and results interpretation. Her responsibilities include leading emerging technology research and pilot program planning and evaluation; managing portfolio-wide evaluation activities; mediating stakeholder conversations and processes; developing market transformation and non-energy benefit assessment strategies; overseeing economic impact analyses and potential studies; and assisting in program planning and design for energy efficiency programs.

Before joining Cadmus, Dr. Hicks was the director of research at Sustainable Engineering Group, where she developed and led their energy efficiency research program. Her clients have included the U.S. Department of Energy, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Wisconsin Focus on Energy, Southern California Edison, ASHRAE, and NASA, among others. Dr. Hicks is an accomplished speaker and she has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed journal publications.

Dr. Hicks holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Master of Physics from MIT, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Macalester College. She is a LEED-AP, ASHRAE member, and Certified Scrum Product Owner. In addition, Amalia serves on multiple local and regional committees, such as the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) Tools and Tech Committee and Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) Policy Committee. She also serves on the MEEA Board of Directors.
